Kids at Play = Learning

The past two months have brought lots of changes. Landon turned nine in February, Loren was gone all of March, Levi has decided that head-banging, while throwing a tantrum is the best way to go, and Leilani went from crawling, to pulling herself up, to walking around the furniture all while Daddy was gone. Oh and let's not forget her finally saying, "da-da," but only in her bed where she thinks no one is listening. Now, on to the pictures!

Landon and Woody ready for school.

Landon and his teacher taking a photo booth break.

Valentine from Grandma Gibb! He carried it around for days!

We spent Valentine's Day at Chuck E. Cheese with our homeschool friends.
All three kids came home with lots of valentines and other loot.

Landon's camouflage cupcakes for his military themed party.

 Coloring their jets.

 The Birthday Boy!

 Pigtails for Leilani!

Mommy can't wait for that hair to grow!

He made a camo-clock while learning about elapsed time.

 Play Time

More play time.

And still, more play time.

What Leilani looks like when she wakes up in the morning...

After Mom gets a hold of her :)

Recess

Working on his math operation, clue words.

 Yay, for Scholastic order forms!

The kids love to look at them and well....eat them. ;)

This is how we grocery shop ;)

 Standing!

 Stealing Mom's phone - Selfies!

 Nature walk

These two love walks.

These two adore each other.

I left them alone after bath time, just for a minute, to go tidy up the bathroom and get their pjs, and this is what I came back to. (This room was spotless before I left.)

 At it again...

 two peas in a pod.

Independent LEGO study. Landon learned all about his favorite thing - LEGOS!
He learned who invented Legos, about the basic design of Legos, where and how they are manufactured, and much more! He used Legos to graph, multiply, estimate, and design.

 Here is his overall work.

This was one of his design challenges.
He was given a small amount of bricks and had to design something in 15 minutes (he did it in 7).
It is a speed boat and this is the back side, they cannot see where they are going. ;)

Construction Week!

Everything this week was about construction.
The babies had a great time.

Levi loves to stack the cones.

Leilani loves to take them apart.

Construction Curriculum

Homemade toys for learning and coordination.

Levi has got it figured out.

Science Experiment - Landon mixed vinegar and baking soda into a pitcher of water that had cashews at the bottom. He was trying to see if the gas would make the cashews rise.

After a few seconds.....ta-da!

Boys being boys!

Landon learned, from his teacher, how to blow a bubble. I'm pretty sure he thought the best part was getting to chew gum during school. After teaching him how to do it, he was then instructed to teach someone else by writing down the instructions. He also got to make this little art project to go with his writing assignment. I am happy to report that Landon can now blow bubbles.

Science Experiment - Landon had to figure out if water, sugar, and yeast and/or vinegar and baking soda would blow up a balloon. If so, which one would do it faster?

He guessed that the yeast bottle would not blow up a balloon.

He figured that the baking soda bottle would definitely blow up a balloon and fast.

He was right about the baking soda bottle.

However, a couple hours later..... he didn't see that one coming ;)
Love learning!

And finally, the kids loved having Daddy home again
and got to spend a four-day weekend with him.
